Frequently asked questions about windscreens
My windshield is cracked. Should I have it repaired or replaced?
If the crack is smaller than a $2 coin, more than 3-4 cm from the edge, and outside the driver’s field of vision, it can usually be repaired. Otherwise, a replacement is recommended.
Do I have to pay to have my windshield inspected?
No. VitroPlus offers a free, no-appointment inspection.
What's the difference between an OEE windshield and another?
OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) windshields comply with the standards of the original manufacturers. Lower quality windscreens can cause distortion, water ingress or premature cracking
How much does it cost to replace a windscreen?
It depends on the vehicle and windshield options (rain sensor, ADAS, etc.). A quote is free of charge. Contact us.
Does my insurance cover replacement?
In most cases, yes. VitroPlus takes care of the claim for you. You only pay the deductible, if any.
What is the Securi-Clair warranty?
It’s a free lifetime warranty offered with every repair or replacement claimed from insurance. It covers all future windscreen repairs at no extra charge
What is ADAS calibration? Is it mandatory?
Yes. After a windshield replacement, the driver assistance systems (cameras, sensors) need to be recalibrated to work properly.
What happens to my old windscreen?
At VitroPlus, all windscreens have been recycled since 2010. The glass is transformed into containers or fiberglass.
Is it legal to drive with a cracked windshield?
No. You could be fined up to $185 if the crack compromises your visibility.
