All our suspension and steering services
Shock absorber maintenance and repair
Worn shock absorbers impair handling, increase braking distances and reduce comfort. We inspect the condition of suspensions, detect leaks, noises or signs of sagging, and replace defective components for a stable, controlled ride
Maintenance and repair of steering components (ball joints, tie rods, rack and pinion)
Imprecise, hard or noisy steering can be caused by worn ball joints, tie rods or rack and pinion. We check each component of the system to correct abnormal play, restore steering precision and ensure your safety.
Wheel geometry (alignment)
Misalignment leads to irregular tire wear, vehicle drift and reduced performance. Using our precision geometry equipment, we readjust wheel angles to manufacturer specifications, optimizing handling, comfort and tire durability
Why maintain your vehicle’s suspension and steering system?
Suspension and steering systems are not only essential for a smooth ride: they also play a vital role in roadholding, vehicle stability and overall safety. Tired shock absorbers, worn ball joints or misaligned wheels can lead to loss of control, premature tire wear and discomfort behind the wheel. Rigorous maintenance means you can drive with confidence, whether on the road or in town.
Regular maintenance helps to:
- Improve handling, stability and driving comfort
- Reduce irregular tire wear and extend tire life
- Correct steering play and prevent unintentional vehicle drift.
- Prevent noises, vibrations or unpredictable steering wheel reactions
- Protect all mechanical components against accelerated wear and tear
- Avoid major repairs by detecting signs of wear in good time
At Alex Pneu et Mécanique, we inspect and repair the entire system: shock absorbers, ball joints, tie rods, steering rack, and perform precision alignment to ensure your wheels are perfectly straight. Thanks to our state-of-the-art equipment and expertise, you’ll leave with a stable, safe and fun-to-drive vehicle.

Why choose us for your suspension and steering?
Clear diagnosis, no guesswork
Car pulling to one side? Vibrating steering wheel? Rattling noises or imprecise handling? We inspect everything: shock absorbers, ball joints, connecting rods, rack and pinion and wheel alignment. The result: an accurate diagnosis, no guesswork.
Total transparency, zero pressure
We explain the problem to you, and discuss possible solutions. You stay in control and make the best decision, in complete confidence.
Targeted intervention, no wasted parts
Changing a shock absorber doesn’t mean replacing everything. Poor alignment can cost more than the repair itself. We intervene where necessary – no more, no less – to keep everything running smoothly.
Fast, reliable service done right
A worn suspension or unstable steering is dangerous. We act quickly, with reliable parts and meticulous workmanship, for your comfort and safety.
Up-to-date skills, equipment and expertise
New or older vehicles, electric or hydraulic steering systems, precise geometry: our team is trained in the latest technologies and works with state-of-the-art equipment for accurate, long-lasting adjustments.
Frequently asked questions about the suspension and steering system
What are the signs of a suspension or shock absorber problem?
Unstable handling, rattling noises over bumps, a vehicle that bounces excessively or digs in at the front when braking may indicate that your shock absorbers are worn.
Why does my steering wheel vibrate or pull to one side?
This may be due to misalignment, irregular tire wear or a problem in the steering components (tie rods, ball joints, rack and pinion). An inspection is recommended.
How often should I have my wheels aligned?
Generally, once a year or after a major impact (pothole, kerb, accident), or if you notice abnormal tire wear or inaccurate steering.
Can I drive with worn shocks?
This is strongly discouraged. Faulty shock absorbers reduce grip, increase braking distances and make the vehicle unstable, especially when braking or turning sharply.
How long does a steering or suspension repair take?
The duration depends on the problem. Replacing shock absorbers or steering components may take a few hours. We always inform you in advance
Do I have to change all 4 shocks at the same time?
Not necessarily. But for balanced handling, we often recommend changing the shocks in pairs (front or rear). We assess the condition of each before suggesting anything.
